August 2026 Patch Notes

The August 2, 2026 update (build 24516931) for No Socks RPG is one of the most substantial quality-of-life patches since the Steam launch. Spicyfuse focused entirely on navigation, visibility, and content accessibility — no combat rebalancing or new story content, but every change meaningfully improves daily play sessions. The headline additions are a flashlight system for dark dungeons, door icons for wayfinding, a gallery mode with bestiary lore, and numerous bug fixes across UI, minimap, and item descriptions.

This page mirrors the official patch notes with added context for wiki readers who want to understand what changed and why it matters.

Flashlight and aura in dark areas

Socks now carries a permanent light source in dark zones. The flashlight illuminates approximately a three-metre radius around the player character. This is always active and cannot be disabled. The change resolves the most common complaint from players who found dark dungeons impossible to navigate without external guides.

Door icons in dark dungeons

Exit paths, transitions, and stairs in dark zones now display a pulsing door icon above them. This eliminates the situation where players stood in pitch darkness unsure which direction to walk. The icon is visible before the flashlight reaches the exit.

Fast travel improvements

Fast travel nodes inside dungeons received a standardised activation radius and a subtle teal glow marker. Previously, players reported that fast travel appeared and disappeared based on precise character positioning. The August update fixes this inconsistency.

Content additions

Gallery Mode

A new gallery accessible from the resort lobby after completing the hospital chapter. The gallery indexes all unlocked scenes and character artwork from your current save file. See the Gallery Mode guide for full details.

Bestiary with lore

Every bestiary entry now includes a lore paragraph describing enemy backstory, personality, and ecosystem context. The bestiary tab is accessible through Gallery Mode or directly from the main menu. See the Bestiary & Lore page for the full content.

More art added to gallery

The August update added new character artwork to the gallery beyond the initial release. This includes behind-the-scenes style sketches and additional character portraits.

UI and visibility fixes

Visibility and clipping fixes

UI elements in dark zones received contrast improvements. Health bars, dialogue boxes, and menu text are now readable against dark backgrounds. Various clipping issues where UI elements overlapped incorrectly in dark zones have been corrected.

Minimap X-mark bugs fixed

Several areas, most notably the desert zone, had bugged X markers on the minimap that appeared and disappeared randomly. This is corrected in the August update. The minimap now also shows room outlines in dungeon interiors even when the area is dark.

More descriptive item descriptions

Item tooltips now include more detailed descriptions. This helps players understand equip effects without needing to cross-reference external wikis for basic mechanics.

Bug fixes

Fixed: Screen X loot bug

The save corruption issue related to screen position on certain loot interactions is fixed. Players on older save files should still follow the migration steps in the Save Corruption Fix page when loading saves from versions before v2.5.

Fixed: Z-button input on keyboard

The Z-chain mouse fix for keyboard players who experienced Z-button failures is now incorporated into the base build. See the Z-Chain Mouse Fix page for details on the underlying workaround.

Known issues still open

The following issues were present before the August update and remain unaddressed as of this release:

  • BP menu on Android — Battle point menus still require a connected controller on APK builds. The developer publicly recommended Easy Mode as a workaround.
  • Animated scene replay — Gallery Mode shows static artwork only. Full video replay is not available.
  • Scene parity for Spooky Gals — Some Bitsy, Risque, and Frankie scenes unlocked through recent H-scene updates are not yet reflected in the gallery.

Track these on the Future Content Roadmap page.

The August 2026 update is available now on Steam and itch.io. Steam users should verify files; itch.io users should download the updated zip from their library.
